Story Telling
hello we comeback......
From the favourite spot for dinner there's a story that we need to know and become our respect for the spirit of the people when they try to serve their best culinary into one plate as an authentic food of JIMBARAN SEAFOOD.
"From a Fishing Village to the World's Dining Table"
The Beginning
Rooted in
the Sea
Many years ago, Jimbaran was simply a small fishing village in the southern part of Bali. Before sunrise each day, local fishermen sailed out to sea on traditional wooden boats called jukung, hoping to return with the best catch of the day — red snapper, rabbitfish, squid, prawns, and even lobster.
As the morning sun began to rise, the fishermen's wives waited along the shoreline. They cleaned the fresh catch while lighting charcoal made from coconut shells. The smoky aroma mixed with the fresh sea breeze slowly became the signature scent of Jimbaran.
Back then, there were no luxury restaurants. Travelers who happened to pass by would only see fishermen grilling seafood in a simple way, seasoned with salt, garlic, and traditional Balinese sambal. Yet it was exactly this simplicity that made people fall in love with the place.
The Turning Point
From Village
to the World
It is said that during the 1970s and 1980s, some foreign visitors began asking to enjoy the grilled seafood directly on the beach. They sat on simple mats, surrounded by the sound of the waves and the warm glow of the sunset. That natural and heartfelt dining experience soon became a story shared from one traveller to another.
As Bali's tourism industry continued to grow, the people of Jimbaran realized that the sea was not only their source of livelihood, but also a place where they could share Balinese culture and hospitality with the world. Slowly, small seafood stalls began appearing along the beach.
Today, Jimbaran Bay is known as one of Bali's culinary icons. Elegant seafood restaurants now line the coastline, yet the spirit of the old fishing village remains deeply alive. Many families still maintain a close connection to the sea and continue the fishing traditions passed down from their ancestors.
What makes Jimbaran special is not only
the seafood itself, but also the
atmosphere.
